I am a the writer/illustrator half of Slap Happy Larry. Since 2011 we’ve been making storybook apps for iOS.
This blog is about all sorts of things… what I’ve been reading, watching and mulling over. If you found your way here, I guess it’s because your interests intersect a little with mine. Either that, or you have some homework that wants doing and your English teacher sent you my way. Pull up a piece of cyberspace and help yourself to the pixel pie!
This all started as a place to upload high school English teaching resources, which were tailored for use in the NCEA curriculum (in its earliest form, at least). You’ll find those materials in the archives. Teachers and students are more than welcome to download any of these resources for use in the classroom. If you’re after resources for creative writing, be sure to click on the writing tag in the word cloud because they’re scattered all over the blog.

What a wonderful website! It is such a noble thing to promote the such incredible writers .
really enjoyed your ideas on ‘It Used To Be Green Once’. Trying some out on my Yr 10′s tomorrow. Thanks a lot.
Please sign me up for email follow-ups so I don’t miss a post. Love your voice.
Well thank you! (You’ve never heard me sing eh.)
I think I just enabled RSS feeds from this blog. I think you can also go into an individual entry and subscribe to follow up posts. I don’t speak from experience here – I’m still subscribing to blogs from Google’s Blogger, even though I switched my own blog over here to WordPress a year ago.
Life is more interesting when it’s complicated I guess. Keeps me on my toes.
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your site! I have a blog called http://www.christinesbookclubforwomen.com and my twitter account is @bookclubwoman. Thought I would introduce myself.
Best,
Christine
Happy New Year, Lynley – And it’s a pleasure to read your stuff!
Just in case you might be interested in ‘Pink & Blue’ and haven’t heard about it yet – As a filmmaker, I’m taking a moment off from the regular grind to fight for ‘equality-in-toyland’ – using weapons of mass attraction.
The fundraising countdown clock is ticking on my lil’ PSA project. You can learn about it (and donate, or share, or whatever you might be inspired to do) here:

It’s going to be an awesome PSA. I have a lovely crew forming, and Hollywood actors who have generously agreed to donate their voices. If you support the idea of ‘Playtime without limits’…feel free to check out what we’re up to – via the Kickstarter link…
Best,
~James Parris
What a fabulous project! I watched your video and was left wanting to know a little more about the exact nature of the screenplay.
